The Massachusetts Latino Police Officers Association (MLPO) is delighted to announce a collaboration with the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) in which we assist in disseminating information regarding the newly developed MPTC scholarship program. The program was unveiled on February 3, 2025, and the link to the press release can be found here: The Healey-Driscoll Administration Launches Police Academy Scholarship Program to Expand Access to Police Academy Training for Aspiring Police Officers | Mass.gov

The MPTC scholarship looks to diversify the law enforcement profession by making it financially accessible to those candidates who wish to sponsor their own attendance to a MPTC approved police academy. This scholarship has become a reality through the efforts of the MPTC, support from Senator Michael J. Rodrigues(D-Westport), and in partnership with Bristol Community College.

Qualified candidates will be provided with all the required equipment for participation in an MPTC academy and there is no enrollment requirement at Bristol Community College. Those attending the academy utilizing this scholarship will not be guaranteed employment by a sponsoring agency, however, candidates are more likely to be hired while at the academy and be paid an entry salary. Bristol Community College will be conducting the interviews and coordinating both the application process and academy entry related proceedings.

The MLPO seeks your assistance in identifying candidates that are interested in sponsoring themselves to an MPTC Academy. Additional information can be found utilizing the scholarship link, MPTC Police Academy Scholarship Program | Mass.gov.

Questions and/or candidate recommendations can be directed to MLPO President Yessenia Gomez via email at yessenia@masslatinopolice.org.

Warm Regards,
