Boston, MA — January 9, 2026 — The Mass Latino Police Officers Association (MLPO) proudly congratulates Officer Anthony Chevere, the first recipient of the Manny Familia Scholarship for 2025, on his graduation from the Boston Police Academy, Class #66-25.
Officer Chevere successfully completed weeks of rigorous academic instruction, physical conditioning, and tactical training alongside 50 fellow recruits. He took the oath of office in the presence of family, friends, and city officials during a well-attended graduation ceremony.
Officer Chevere is the son of Officer Geovanni Chevere, a longstanding MLPO member and recipient of the 2024 Community Policing Award, currently serving with the Boston University Police Department. His achievement reflects both his personal dedication to law enforcement and the strong support of his family.
This milestone would not have been possible without the continued generosity of the MLPO Manny Familia Scholarship sponsors, whose commitment allows MLPO to support aspiring Latino/a officers and future leaders in public safety.
The MLPO Scholarship was established in 2014 and renamed in 2022 in honor of Worcester Police Officer Enmanuel “Manny” Familia, who tragically passed away on June 4, 2021, after sustaining injuries while heroically attempting to save a young boy from drowning. Manny was 38 years old. The scholarship supports Latino/a candidates pursuing higher education at accredited two- or four-year institutions or enrollment in a Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC)-approved Recruit Officer Course.
